CUMIS General Home & Auto insurance program ending in Alberta in 2026
CUMIS General Insurance Company has withdrawn from the home and automobile insurance marketplace in Alberta as of January 1, 2026. This necessary decision is in direct response to ongoing challenges in Alberta’s auto insurance market, including the rising cost of auto claims.
This will not affect the coverage of current policyholders until the 2026 expiry date of their policy. As of January 1, 2026, CUMIS General will no longer quote or renew home and auto insurance contracts in Alberta.
All policyholders will receive timely information with ample notice before policies expire. We’re working to help policyholders make informed decisions about securing new coverage.
There are no changes to other CUMIS branded products or services offered in Alberta. This decision does not affect the CUMIS General Home & Auto program in other provinces.
